Getting Good Search Rankings With Market Samurai

Find out how to use Market Samurai to get good search rankings. I use this keyword research tool to identify the best keywords for my websites. This involves identifying the search volume and competition for the search terms I want to rank for.

Market Samurai Search Ranking Tool

Market Samurai also has as Search Ranking Tool which is in fact one of the best. As an SEO company I have seen a lot of tools that allow you to track your search rankings but the Market Samurai tool in my opinion tops them all. Here is why…

First of all when you log in you choose Rank Tracker…

After this you add your keywords…

.. and you can even classify them by category. For example in the above I have added “seo course” into the “seo” category by just clicking on the category before adding the keyword.

Then you add the domains you want to track the search rankings for and you can select multiple domains.. so for example this screenshot shows three of the sites all related to seo training that I am tracking.

Add individual URLs to trackNext you can add individual URLs which you want to check the ranking for. So for example if you have a Twitter page or some videos or blog sites or press releases, you can just enter them in the Add URL box along with the search terms you want to check to see if this URL is ranking.

You then just click Update Rankings and if you want to do this for a single keyword or category you can just check the boxes next to them. The tool is very fast and does the job within a couple of minutes, depending on how many checks you are doing. You have the ability to select Google, Yahoo and Bing and also whether to check both phrase and broad match searches.
A phrase match search is where you type quote marks around the search phrase when you do the search on the search engine – but most people don’t do phrase searches. There is more information on keyword research in our free SEO training videos on Search Classroom.

The search results will look like this screenshot if you have checked multiple domains…

… and this shows the number of pages indexed on the search engines you are checking as well as the PageRank for each of the domains. By clicking on the chart icon for a domain you get to see the movement over time because Market Samurai stores all the information for you.

Market Samurai is definitely in my opinion the best SEO software available and if you need an SEO tool which will help you do keyword research, analyse competition, track your search rankings and much more, then this is nothing else on the market as good, and I don’t know why they are not charging more than $149. There is nothing else available as professional and good as this tool. If you buy through my link I do get a small commission, but I assure you I would not be recommending this if I did not use it and recommend it to my students. Checking Your Search Rankings with Market Samurai

Market Samurai now has a search engine ranking checker included. From an SEO perspective this was probably the most important feature missing previously.

However there are 3 major advantages of using Market Samurai’s keyword research tool over other tools I have used, namely IBP and Web CEO.

1) First of all, you can categorise your keywords. For example I can groups “seo training”, “seo online course” and “seo training course” into a group called “seo” and “ppc training”, “ppc course” etc.. into a group called “ppc”.

2) Second you can assign specific URLs (not domains but actual individual pages) to a particular keyword. So for example, I have a video ranking well for “keyword research basics” on the Kewego.com video sharing site. I can assign this url – http://www.kewego.com/video/iLyROoafMNQg.html – to my search term “keyword research basics” and see where it ranks. So this is especially useful if you are following a search strategy where you are using Video and Web 2.0 sites to get extra search rankgings.

3) Third you can see the graph of your rankings over time for each individual keyword

The only feature that seems to be missing from the keyword ranking tool is ability to check the rank within a country. So for example in the UK you can’t actually check your rankings yet on Google.co.uk – the ranking check defaults to Google.com – which is not a problem if you are trying to rank globally, but if trying to rank within any country outside the US, then you need to check on the country version of the search engine because the major search engines, in particular Google, default to the local country search index – and local search rankings can vary widely from search rankings on Google.com.
